Resume Content

I always start discussing resumes by talking about content. What you write about in your resume matters more than anything else. If you don’t write about the right stuff, no one will take action and interview you. This is often one of the hardest parts of resume writing - knowing what to write about.

Resume Builders & AI

I would be remiss if I didn’t dedicate a section to the emerging resume tools available to job seekers today. I’ve personally tested nearly 30 resume builders and resume AI over the past year. They are not all equal. After careful review, there are two that I recommend, both for different reasons.

When it comes to AI, Huntr beats every other tool I’ve seen on the market. It can translate job experience from an unrelated job to your target job. It can blend the right amount of context with results. It’s good. They also have one of the best job search trackers (Kanban style) I’ve ever seen.

When it comes to the ability to edit your resume and customize it, Teal is hands down the best. With their latest update, no one comes close to their ability. They have AI features as well, but I’ve had little success using them to produce something I could use.

If I could take these two tools and put them together, you’d have the ultimate resume tool. Considering you could buy them both for less than $50 and write a great resume in a few hours, it’s a no-brainer investment.
